Snow in the Tramuntana mountains

There are many interesting plans to do in Mallorca in winter. Activities, appointments and other ideas that lack meaning in summer but in this time are some of the best options at your fingertips.

In the Balearic Islands we are not accustomed with snow, thus, for a few weeks it is a reality, but only in the Sierra de Tramuntana. When it snows in this area you can enjoy incredible views and a landscape depicted from movies.

The Sierra de Tramuntana is the largest mountain range on the island, located to the north, and serves as a rock shelter for all of Mallorca. Its highest mountain is the Puig Mayor, with 1,436 meters of height. It is a perfect mountainous area to make mountaineering routes, with lush vegetation, autochthonous, and beautiful fauna that will immerse you in an authentic Mediterranean experience.

And when the temperatures touch their minimums and the weather accompanies…magic happens and we have snow! Therefore, we recommend you take the car … with chains, and walk through the villages located in the Serra de Tramuntana.

You can enjoy the views from the Ses Barques Viewpoint, where you will see an amazing landscape of the whole island.

There are restaurants open in winter, located at the top, where you can spend an interesting and delicious time. For example, you can go to Béns d’Avall, which is in Sóller, or to Sa Foradada in Deià.

A beautiful and bright day, in which we have a good snowfall, can be the ideal combination to live an incredible experience. The weather forecast will tell us when the best time will be.
